The railway infrastructure is acceptable to harsh weather conditions, for these reasons track points are heated in the winter months, this stops the points from freezing, keeping the railway system operational. Coljoint Completed the electrical installation of points heating across eight sites whilst assisting Bam Nuttall.
Client Brief
Bam Nuttall contracted Coljoint with installing and terminating multiple sizes of SWA cables, these included supplies to, Points heating distribution cabinets which then feeds the Points heating control cabinets, points heating transformers and Track connection boxes.
Project Delivery
- 2 x Points Heating distribution cabinets were installed one at Lovers Walk and one Slade Green Country End.
- 11 Points heating control cabinets were installed across all sites.
- 68 Points Heating Transformers were installed across all sites.
- 141 Points Heating Junction boxes were installed near each set of points.
- SWA cables of multiple sizes were installed throughout the installations.
- 200+ Heating strips were connected to the railway points.
